I'm Daniel Zuo, and I love doing stuff! I keep a balanced life with habits and systems that carry me even when motivation runs out. Because I'm always curious and have set-ups I genuinely enjoy, I rarely burn out.
Part of why I'm doing Cognitive Systems is the power of AI. But learning about AI also means understanding the concerns and ethics behind it. That's where psychology, linguistics and philosophy come together, giving me an interdisciplinary education: a niche but important skill set.
I started at UBC in September 2026. Before that I founded a learning-science club and ran the largest service club at my high school. Now I do research in a UBC lab on addiction and mental health, and I'm adding code to the mix, one small project at a time.
